Curriculum & Assessment

Our Catholic Schools' curriculum encompasses all the learning experiences -- cognitive, psychomotor, and affective -- that are planned and directed by the school. The curriculum develops the student's responsibility to God, self, home, church, community, world and other persons. The curriculum guidelines for all grade levels (K-12) in the Diocese of Gaylord Catholic Schools can be found within our Catholic School Policy Handbook, Section 5000, Curriculum/Instruction.

Diocese of Gaylord Assessment Program

The fundamental purpose of assessment at any level is to provide information to guide teaching and learning. It is essential to note that important decisions about students are never made on the basis of a single assessment. Information gained from testing contributes to a balanced view of student growth that also includes each student's daily work, performance on a variety of classroom assessments, and the observations and insights of their teachers.

The following common assessment tools are utilized by all of our schools:

  1. NWEA Assessment is used to track student growth over time and has been utilized by the Diocese of Gaylord Catholic Schools since the 2004/05 school year.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: We will continue to use the Non-Common Core aligned NWEA MAP tests until further information becomes available.
  2.  ACT battery of tests to measure college readiness in grades 7 - 12.
  3. NCEA ACRE Assessment (to measure Religion standards).
