The Epiphany of the Lord
Dear Priests and Pastoral Administrators:
The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us!
With this letter I am happy to present the “Communication Best Practices Report.” Communication is one of the three priority areas, together with Evangelization and Faith Formation, that were individuated through our Mutually Shared Vision process so that we may truly become a beacon “Shining Christ’s Light, Sunrise to Sunset.”
This work is the culmination of two years of study, research, writing and editing. The goal of this work was to publish a model that provides information and guidance for entities within the diocese desiring to improve communications.
I express my gratitude to the members of the team for their commitment and dedication in compiling for us this important instrument. I am particularly impressed with their process and efforts to reach out to a wide cross-section of individuals, dioceses and organizations to identify best practices and what is needed to implement them. The document is thorough and well-written, offering best practices along with a supplement providing more detailed information on specific topics.
It is my sincere hope and prayer that this document will be useful for communicating the Love of Christ in our parishes and communities, helping all to become faithful announcers of the Gospel. A new team has been created to help those who would like to implement some of the best practices and is currently developing a strategy to do so. If you have any questions, please contact Candace Neff, the diocesan Director of Communications, or Julia Bushong, the diocesan Network Administrator and chairperson of the implementation team.
May we follow the example of our Blessed Mother as we humbly receive the Word, treasure it and communicate it to others.
