What is a Jubilee Year?
A Holy Year of the forgiveness of sin, conversion and joyful celebration.
The word “jubilee” comes from the Hebrew word yobel, which refers to the ram’s horn used to announce a jubilee in the Old Testament. The Diocese of Gaylord is coordinating two pilgrimages during the Jubilee year. Learn more about the history of a Jubilee year here.
How to participate in a Jubilee
Some dioceses, parishes and other organizations will be coordinating pilgrimages, but you may also go on your own.
Pilgrimage to Italy | November 2025
Join Fr. Matthew Wigton on a Jubilee pilgrimage to Italy!
When: Nov. 4-13, 2025
During this eight-day trip, pilgrims will visit Assisi, Rome and other beautiful religious and holy miracle sites.

Join Bishop Walsh on a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Champion. Join 5,500 other pilgrims from across the U.S. and world to honor our Blessed Mother and strengthen our faith.
The Diocese of Gaylord "Walk to Mary" has three options: 15.7 miles, 8.7 miles, 1.7 miles. This group travel bus pilgrimage includes transportation, the "Walk to Mary" registration fee, breakfast while in Wisconsin and hotel accommodations.
Accommodations and Costs:
Transportation and walk fee: $150 per pilgrim (make payable to the diocese)
Hotel fee: $336 for two nights, double occupancy; each person pays half (payable directly to the hotel)=
