Presentation on Saint Francis Solanus Indian Mission Church

Tuesday, June 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

This program will explore the historical significance of Saint Francis Solanus Indian Mission Church and burial grounds. The church was built in 1859 under the orders of Bishop Frederick Baraga for the Native Americans and local settlers living in the area. Upon completion, Bishop Baraga blessed it for use as the first Catholic Church in Petoskey. This is the oldest building in Emmet County still standing.

Jeff Haven and Joe Hoffman from Saint Francis Solanus Indian Mission Church Committee will present a visual tour and narrative on the church.

There will be refreshment furnished by the Holy Childhood of Jesus Parish.
