Bulletin Announcement for May 9-10, 6th Sunday of Easter

CSA Announcement May 9-10, 2026
Last weekend, we launched the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) and reflected on our communion as one Church, united in the Eucharist. Thank you to those who already made a gift! Your support directly impacts the many ministries and programs that bring Christ’s love to our diocese. If you have not yet had the opportunity to give, we invite you to prayerfully consider making a commitment this weekend. To date, our parish has received $______________ in gifts and gift commitments toward our goal. CSA supports Catholic education, seminarian formation, outreach to the poor, diocesan services that support all parishes and many other vital efforts that sustain our Church’s mission. Every gift, no matter the amount, is a powerful expression of faith and helps us respond to God’s call. To learn more about CSA, or to make a gift online, please visit DioceseofGaylord.org/CSA26. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to strengthening the mission of the Church!

Mother's Day
Today, we pray for all mothers, including mothers who have experienced the loss of a child, those who grieve the absence of a mother and those who long for a child. May they be held in God's loving care. Lord, grant them peace through the tender intercession of Mary, our Blessed Mother.

“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.”—St. Thérèse of Lisieux

6th Sunday of Easter
This Sunday's readings focus on faith, love and the Holy Spirit. Today we are reminded of God's ever-present love in our lives and that Jesus' presence through the Spirit will remain close to those who love him.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always..."—John 14:15-16

Celebrate 50 Years of Faith at Our Cathedral

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of St. Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral — the heart of our Diocese. From ordinations to Chrism Masses to diocesan celebrations, the Cathedral has stood as a visible sign of unity for all Catholics in the Diocese of Gaylord.

To celebrate this Jubilee Year, a Cathedral sanctuary renovation is now underway — designed to reflect the beauty, reverence, and glory worthy of God's house. A new handcrafted altar, a golden-tiled Crucifix alcove and a gleaming tabernacle will uplift every person who gathers there in prayer.

We are all invited to support this sacred renewal. This is our Mother Church — and your gift, no matter the size, helps preserve and beautify this holy place for the next 50 years and beyond.

Bishop Walsh Creates St. Joseph Measure and Devotional Prayer
While on spiritual retreat at the St. Joseph Chapel in McBain, Mich., a St. Joseph Measure devotion was put on Bishop Walsh’s heart. Thanks to the Holy Spirit, Bishop Walsh wrote a special devotional prayer to Saint Joseph, and designed a St. Joseph Measure to help people say the prayer. “I was praying for a variety of things in the chapel and relying on St. Joseph’s intercession at the time,” explains Bishop Walsh. “St. Joseph came to my rescue. I felt comforted and strengthened by his presence.”

The St. Joseph Measure has a cross with fleurs-de-lis and lilies— both symbols of St. Joseph. The measure includes a series of brown beads and medallions to remind us of each aspect of St. Joseph’s discipleship, allowing us the opportunity to reflect on how we should be living out our discipleship. The final prayer, on the carpenter’s square, or the measure, reminds us of St. Joseph’s virtuous life that was holy, hidden and humble as well as sacred scripture.
