First Week of June (4-5) , Pentecost (C)

Stewardship by the Book

One miracle of Pentecost was that, despite their diversity, each listener heard God’s word in his or her own language. The meaning for stewardship is that, by sharing the gifts poured out  on us by the Holy Spirit, we will be empowered to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be.

Vocation View

Like sun through a stained glass window, the Spirit of God can shine in your life to call forward the best in others. Come, follow Him.

Stewardship Reflections

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.”  (John 14:26)

The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us.  The relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there is no absolute truth.  Pray to the Holy Spirit to transform our lives and to guide our thoughts, words and actions.  What you put in your head, heart and mind affects your actions.  Put good things in and good things will come out.

Family Perspective-by Bud Ozar

Today’s gospel tells us God actually wants to take up residence in your family, “We will come and make our home with you.”  Every family is called to be a tabernacle where God dwells. Is Jesus a permanent member of your family or a temporary guest? Today the promise is given. The choice is ours.

Social Awareness

Trafficking is a crime that can happen in front of our eyes and traffickers are never on vacation.  Be alert to children who may be potential targets for traffickers. UNTIL YOUR PARISH REACHES ITS GOAL

Thank you to all who have made their gift to the 2022 Catholic Services Appeal. (Parish name) is _________% towards our goal of $__________. If you have not yet made a gift or pledge, it is not too late to help us meet and even exceed our target. Please participate in the support of our diocesan church by giving today.

WHEN YOUR PARISH REACHES ITS GOAL

Thank you to everyone who responded so generously to the annual Catholic Services Appeal. Each year the success of this appeal depends on you. Your support is greatly appreciated in both our parish and the diocesan church. It is when we grow as a community of believers that we help to assure that those who provide services throughout Northern Michigan will be able to continue Christ’s work here in the Diocese of Gaylord.

Calling you to serve your community through Senior Volunteer Programs of NWMI!

Are you retired and looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of others? Do you live in Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, or Wexford County? The volunteer program needs you! We help strengthen families in northern Michigan, but we can't do it alone. We seek volunteers to work with children in the classroom setting and become companions to isolated seniors.

Become a Classroom Grandparent:

  • Share your talents and skills as you mentor children by working one-on-one and in small groups to lift children’s self-esteem, spirit, knowledge and more.
  • Foster Grandparent volunteers serve as role models, mentors, and tutors to children in need. Volunteers serve 15+ hours per week by meeting with children in schools, Head Start, daycare, YMCA, summer camp, or other center settings.
  • Not only do volunteers help children with specific learning such as reading, writing, and math, but they also provide a listening ear and companionship. Classroom grandparents become safe, consistent mentors in the lives of children at risk.

Become a Senior Companion:

  • Senior Companion Volunteers serve as advocates, supporters, and companions to older adults who are frail and isolated. Volunteers help connect seniors to their community and help them maintain their dignity and independence.
  • Volunteers serve 15+ hours/week to help with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, and other routine household tasks. Volunteers may transport and accompany seniors to doctor appointments, groceries shopping, and community events.

Make a difference by volunteering your time each week to help at-risk children and vulnerable adults who live in our communities! Must be 55+ years to volunteer with the Senior Volunteer Programs of NWMI. Asking for 15 hours a week commitment to make an impact.
