Vote NO on Proposal 3

The Catholic bishops in Michigan, together with the dioceses in this state, are calling on all Catholics to vote NO on Proposal 3 on the November election ballot. This would allow abortion up to the moment of birth for practically any reason. For more information about the proposal and how to help defeat it, please visit dioceseofgaylord.org/defeatproposal3 for more information on how to connect with the official “Vote NO” campaign.

Stewardship by the Book

We are called to be good stewards of our personal vocations. St. Paul’s prayer for the Thessalonians is therefore ours, too, “that our God may make (us) worthy of his calling and powerfully bring to fulfillment every good purpose and every effort of faith.”

Vocation View

Do whatever is necessary to see Jesus : climb a tree, make a retreat, confess your sins, read His life, help an enemy, say a prayer. He will stay with you today.

Stewardship Reflections

“But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, ‘Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.’”   LUKE 19:8

We are all called to gratefully give back to the Lord in proportion to the gifts we have been given.  This means everyone isn’t called to give the same amount, but everyone is called to give equal sacrifice.  Open your heart and talk to God about how you use your money.  How is God calling you to be more generous with your financial resources and possessions?

Family Perspective by Bud Ozar

Jesus is saying to you what he said to Zacchaeus, “I must stay at your house today.” It doesn’t matter if

In today’s gospel Jesus “intended to pass through Jericho to another town.” In families we sometimes stop at the wrong places. It is wisdom to “pass through” annoying family situations so we can enjoy the goodness of each other.

Word of Life

“The mystery of the redemption of the human person is rooted in the loving involvement of God with human suffering. Hope is always possible. To those who care for the sick, the scene of the Cross provides a way of understanding that even when it seems that there is nothing more to do there remains much to do, because ‘remaining’ by the side of the sick is a sign of love and of the hope that it contains. Healed by Jesus, we become men and women called to proclaim his healing power and provide care for our neighbors, until the very end.”

Social Awareness

It’s Trick or Treat Time and tricking potential victims into promising them something they may never be able to get on their own is a given for traffickers….a way they make their money.
