Catholic Schools Week 2022

With Catholic Schools Week beginning tomorrow, you're invited to join in the national celebration by praying for our students, parents, teachers and staff. Since 1974, Catholic Schools Week has been the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Schools across the country observe the special week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value that Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our Church and communities.

This year’s theme — Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service. — reminds us what a priceless gift Catholic education is to our families and communities. Catholic schools provide a faith-filled environment, the opportunity for academic excellence and achievement, and orient students towards service and love of neighbor. Bishop Walter Hurley shares,

"We will celebrate Catholic Schools Week this year from January 30 through February 5, and during these special days, we take time to give thanks for the blessings we have here in the diocese with our 16 parish schools. These schools are significant part of the life of our diocese, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the parishes, their pastors and people, as well as to parents and donors who so generously support these schools. We are grateful for the principals, staff and faculty who give of their time and energy to staffing these schools.

Whatever your involvement, your continued support to our young people is making a lasting difference in their lives. During this special week ahead, let us ask God’s blessings on our efforts within our Catholic schools here in northern Michigan and around the nation."
